I have exciting news! After some deliberation (and extensive planning), I've decided to self-publish my first book, The Genesis of Seven, coming this summer on 7/7/2020. It's the first book in a fantasy trilogy about an eighteen-year-old boy who must help seven archangels rediscover their divine purpose before Satan is freed and a war in Heaven is brought to Earth.
For me, self-publishing was always a possibility because book design is something I love to do, and the fact that I have a lot of control in the process is very appealing. The only reason why I never committed before was because I wanted to give this story a chance within the traditional publishing system. Well, I gave it almost two years worth of a chance, and I just don't want to wait anymore. I know this story has great potential, and the only way for that potential to be felt is for my book to be out in the world, connecting with readers.
Now, I am by no means criticizing traditional publishing or its system. I understand the process and the reasoning behind why there are so many steps to take to enter this realm. Who knows, it might be the path for me in the future, but right now it's not. Instead, I want to take what I have learned from traditional publishing and use it in my self-publishing plan. I've been toying with the idea of self-publishing for awhile, so a lot of the groundwork is already set (although I assure you there is still lots to do). I intend to invest all my time and skills in making this book look and feel like any other you might find on shelves at the bookstore. Quality is key, and that's my motto throughout this process.
In the coming months, I hope to share with you more about the steps I take in preparing this book, as well as more information about my book in general.
