Summer 2020

Hello, everyone! I thought it was about time I checked in again. It's been a while since my last blog post, but in that time The Genesis of Seven has been released to the world.

This summer has been such a whirlwind between the pandemic and the launch of my first book. I plan to write a whole post about how COVID has impacted and affected my book launch plans, so I won't linger too long on the subject here, but let's just say it's been an insane journey.

In the meantime, I thought I'd give you all an update on what's been happening this summer.

#1 Virtual Conventions

This summer my brother and I were supposed to attend San Diego Comic Con in person for the first time. Unfortunately, that was cancelled because of the pandemic, but our badges are still good for next year. To fill the void, they held a virtual convention instead, which was really fun, watching all the great panels and exploring the online exhibit hall.

Additionally, we also tuned in to DC Fandome, a virtual event all about the latest news and projects from DC Comics. The panels at this event were by far my favorite as most of them contained previews for new movies and shows.

#2 Virtual Book Tour

With the launch of my book, I have been doing virtual book tours. Most of these are taking place on Instagram, although a few are through various book blogs on the Internet. In total, I have four scheduled. The first started in July and the last one will take place in October. These have been so much fun, and are such great ways to interact with readers. I hope to do more virtual tours, events, and giveaways through the rest of the year, so stay tuned through my newsletter and social media to find out more.

#3 Book Two

Most of you will be thrilled to know that I have started writing Book Two! I already had the story all planned out (Book Three is all planned out too), so now it’s just a matter of writing it. The writing has been going well so far, and I hope to be finished with a draft by the end of the year. Book Two will be released next year, and I plan to announce more specifics (title, release date, cover?) in the fall.

#4 Family Time

Movie night at home featuring sleepy puppies

Family is the most important thing to me, so I usually spend a lot of time with them normally, but this summer in particular we’ve all become closer. Playing board games, eating home cooked meals, and watching movies in the living room have been some of the simple things we have done together, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

#5 Diamond Painting

On a side note, I’ve also experimented with Diamond Painting. For those that don’t know, Diamond Painting is essentially a kit of sequin-type pieces (diamonds) that you stick to a canvas. The canvas has a pre-printed image on it that you fill in with the diamonds. It’s almost like color by number except with different materials. This is my first one and it’s taken me a long while just to get to this point, but it is really fun and relaxing.

Well, there you have it! That’s been my summer so far. Compared to last year, it looks a lot different since travel and large gatherings are impossible to do, but I have still enjoyed this summer just as much since it's been a productive and creative one.
